Ms. Firouza Sharifi, the former member of the current Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), has been appointed deputy governor of the southern Khatlon province, replacing Ms. Makhfirat Khidirzoda.

Member of the ruling People’ Democratic Party of Tajikistan (PDPT), Ms. Sharifi, was elected to the Majlisi Namoyandagon in 2016.  Prior to this, she had headed the Khatlon directorate for youth, sports and tourism affairs.

Recall, Ms. Makhfirat Khidirzoda was relieved of her post of deputy governor of Khatlon in late October last year in connection with transfer to other job.  She was appointed member of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER).
