Ten million flowers will be planted in Dushanbe by Navrouz festival, which is celebrated on March 21, according to the Dushanbe Administration.

“A special group has been set up to develop the landscape design project,” Sherali Rahmonov, the head of the Dushanbe landscape and gardening department, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, the group, which is led by Deputy Dushanbe Mayor Tolib Rahimzoda,  consists of known Tajik landscape designers, architectures and floriculturists.

“Tulips, chrysanthemums, begonias (elephant ears), petunias and salvias will be planted in the city,” Rahmonov said, noting that all those flowers were grown in city nurseries.

He refrained from answering the question how much the flower decoration will cost the city budget.
