Tajikistan plans to establish a new holiday—Day of Antimonopoly Authorities, to be celebrated annually on January 11.
The government of Tajikistan has issued a resolution to approve and submit amendments to the law "On Public Holidays" to the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament). The document has been published on the Justice Ministry’s legal information portal.
Currently, the law recognizes 93 public holidays, among which the following are non-working days:
- January 1 – New Year;
- March 8 – Mother’s Day;
- March 21–24 – International Navrouz Holiday;
- May 9 – Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War;
- June 27 – National Unity Day;
- September 9 – Independence Day of the Republic of Tajikistan;
- November 6 – Constitution Day of the Republic of Tajikistan;
- Eid al-Fitr (determined annually by the state religious authority);
- Eid al-Adha (determined annually by the state religious authority).
It is noteworthy that Tajikistan has an Antimonopoly Service under the government, which acts as the executive authority responsible for implementing unified state policies in competition protection and development, prevention and suppression of monopolistic practices, state regulation and oversight of natural monopoly entities, consumer rights protection, and monitoring advertising activities.
