President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the chiefs of the Afghan, Pakistani and Chinese military headquarters on August 28. The main topic of all meetings was the situation in Afghanistan, including the establishment of a system of cooperation between Afghanistan, China, Tajikistan and Pakistan.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon today received the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Afghanistan, Muhammad Sharif Yaftali, the press service of the President of Tajikistan reports.


The development and strengthening of multilateral relations with Afghanistan was called one of the priorities of Tajikistan's foreign policy and stressed that Tajikistan is always a supporter of strengthening its cooperation with Afghanistan in all areas of interest.

“At the meeting also noted that Tajikistan is always ready to further expand bilateral cooperation with Afghanistan, to pay the necessary attention to further cooperation within the framework of multilateral mechanisms. The establishment of a system of quadrilateral cooperation between China, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan was named among the important measures and expressed confidence that the most rapid implementation of this initiative will be an important factor in strengthening the process of peace and stability in Afghanistan” - the press service of the President of Tajikistan reports.

The President today also received the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China, Li Zo Chen.


“The meeting reviewed the state and prospects of military-technical cooperation and security cooperation between Tajikistan and China which form the basis of bilateral relations. The importance of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and China in the fight against terrorism, radicalism and separatism was underlined, the strengthening of this interaction was assessed in accordance with the interests of all states of the region”, - the press service of the President of Tajikistan reports.

It was noted that cooperation in this direction continues at an appropriate level, however, despite this, states should be ready for an operational confrontation of new and undesirable phenomena of a regional and international nature.

Both sides expressed constructive ideas on strengthening integration and active assistance in solving the complex military and political problem of Afghanistan they stressed their readiness and interest in strengthening border forces on the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, which is of current importance.

At the meeting of the President with the Chief of Staff of the Army of Pakistan, Kamar Javid Badjwu, were examined issues related to instability and anxiety in many countries of the world, especially in Muslim countries, as well as other significant international problems.


It was stressed that one of the main directions of Tajikistan's cooperation with all countries of the world, including with friendly Pakistan, is to promote and actively participate in ensuring and strengthening regional and international peace and stability.

Satisfaction was expressed with the fact that in recent years the interaction and cooperation of the national armies, special services and law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan and Pakistan has been expanding and acquiring a new level and quality.

Both sides stressed their readiness for further expansion of this interaction, proceeding on the basis of respect for the interests of the parties and mutual understanding.

The process of implementing the signed agreements covering various areas of cooperation in the areas of security and defense of the parties and military and technical assistance of the Government of Pakistan, playing a role in strengthening Tajikistan's security potential in the fight against regional threats, was named appropriate to mutual needs and interests.
