DUSHANBE, January 28, 2011, Asia-Plus -- In 2010,
48,700 people, or 2.3 percent of the economically active population of
the country, qualified for unemployment and took status of unemployed,
according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (MLSP).
The source at a MLSP says that as of November 1, 2010, the number of
economically active population in the country was 2,153,600 people.
In 2010, 130,674 new jobs were created in Tajikistan and more than
32,000 people were placed in jobs. Besides, 6,600 were sent to the
paid public works and more than 9,100 people took vocational training
courses.
606 job fairs were held in Tajikistan last year and 6,814
organizations and enterprises that participated at those fairs offered
94,700 jobs.
According to the statistical data from the MLSP, an average monthly
wage of employees (hired labor) last year was 348.89 somoni, which is
16.3 percent more than in 2009.
According to the Agency for Statistics, 735,000 Tajik nationals,
including more than 48,000 women, traveled abroad last year seeking
better employment opportunities.
