A female entrepreneur from the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), Ms. Sharofat Vatanshoyeva, has built a private clinic in the region.  The ever first private clinic is expected to open in the run-up to Tajikistan Independence, which is celebrated on September 9.

An official source at the GABO regional administration says a six-story building of the new medical center houses eleven wards, eight diagnostic rooms as well pharmaceutical rooms.   

The private clinic, which is located in Khorog, the capital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region, also has surgical department, department of obstetrics and gynecology and therapeutics department.

The equipment for this medical center has been purchased in Russia and Europe, the source added.   

According to the statistical data from the Tajik president’s official website, there are 681 private medical facilities are now operating in the country.  382 of them have the status of legal entity, 55 others have the status of a branch, and 301 medical facilities belong to physical entities.  1600 physicians and 1,500 nurse practitioners reportedly work with these facilities.  Besides, there are 58 private hospitals, 22 diagnostic centers, 69 labs, 4 pharmaceutical centers and more than 2,300 drugstores are operating in the country.
