Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament (Majlisi Oli) is expected to discuss a draft law on craftsmanship today.  The bill has been worked out by the government on behalf of President Emomali Rahmon.

A regular sitting of the Majlisi Namoyandagon will also discuss a draft law on the Association of Water Users of Tajikistan and the Protocol to the Forced Labor Convention, 1930.

A law on craftsmanship has been drafted during one and a half year and the government endorsed it at its session in November last year.

The law on craftsmanship aims at promoting revival and preservation of cultural heritage, historical traditions of craftsmanship art as well as creation of conditions for development of handicrafts and protection of rights of consumers and producers of handicraft products.

Recall, President Emomali Rahmon in October last year ordered relevant bodies to set up craft centers in all cities and districts of the country.
