Tajik judoka Somon Mahmadbekov has won gold medal for Tajikistan finishing first in the -73kg category at the World U-21 Judo Championships that is going on in Marrakesh, Morocco.
In the final, Somon Mahmadbekov defeated Russian judoka Georgii Elbakiyev, silver medalist of the 2018 Budapest Grand Prix.
Of six wrestlers representing Tajikistan in the completion, three – Jamoliddin Abdulloyev, Idiek Safarov and Qoim Shukronov – have already dropped out of the tournament.
Today, Abubakr Akobir and Emomrizo Anvarzoda will come out the tatami in Marrakesh.
In all, 517 athletes, including 294 men and 223 women, from 81 countries of the world have participated in the competitions competing for medals in 14 weight categories.
