Tajikistan’s Siyovush Zuhurov has won the gold medal at the All-Russian boxing tournament, class “A”.
The 8th All-Russian boxing tournament devoted to memory of Master of Sports of the Soviet Union Dmitry Panov took place in the Russian city of Novosibirsk from October 29 to November 2.
The 25-year-old Tajik boxer Siyovush Zuhurov has reportedly won the gold medal, finishing first in the weight category of -91kg.
130 athletes from fourteen regions of the Russian Federation and Central Asia’s nations participated in this tournament. Men competed in ten weight categories and women competed in four weight categories.
This annual tournament is aimed at promoting development of boxing, improving sports skills and training sports reserves.
Siyovush Zuhurov is the son of Beg Zuhurov, the head of the communications service agency of Tajikistan.
Siyovush’s coach Parviz Ahmadov says their main task is to win a ticket to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
