Torrential rain on June 9 caused a series of mudslides that damaged rural roads in the areas subordinate to the city of Roghun.

The Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan says the mudslides damaged rural roads of the villages of Lughuri Bolo, Shohi Aslon, Sangi Surkh and Kali Bed in the Sicharogh jamoat.

The mudslides also partially damaged three bridges and four pillars of the power transmission line in the area.

No residential buildings were affected by the disaster and no injured was reported, according to the Emergencies Committee.

Currently, a commission is working in the disaster site to assess the actual damage caused by the mudslides to the Sicharogh jamoat.

Hot weather and possible torrential rains have reportedly increased the risk of further mudslides in the mountain areas.  The Emergencies Committee advises people not to travel to the mountain areas unnecessarily.
