According to the data from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP), 40 new officially confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in Tajikistan yesterday, bringing a total number of the officially confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country to 11,376 as of the evening of November 9.

The number of coronavirus-linked deaths remains the same in the country – 83, a MoHSPP says.

10,711 coronavirus patients have reportedly recovered in the country as of the evening of November 9. 

The COVID-19 pandemic in Tajikistan is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).  The virus was confirmed to have spread to Tajikistan when its index cases, in Dushanbe and Khujand, were confirmed on April 30, 2020.     

The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 216 countries and territories around the world. 

According to COVID-19 data provided by Worldometer, coronavirus cases around the globe have been reported at 51,243,488 since China reported its first cases to the World Health Organization (WHO) in December last year.  Of them, 36,053,021 have recovered and 1,269,319 have died.

CNN says the US has surpassed 10 million cases of coronavirus.  One of President-elect Joe Biden's first priorities is tackling the pandemic, his transition team announced. He is expected to name a12-person coronavirus task force in the coming days.

The EU reportedly hailed the success of its cross-border Covid-19 contact tracing system.

Meanwhile, Iran remains the worst-hit country in the Middle East, with 692,949 cases.  It broke its daily record for infections again on Monday, with 10,463 new cases, according to the spokesperson for the Iranian health ministry, CNN says.
