On Monday February 22, President Emomali Rahmon signed an order on holding three culture contests in the country this year on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence, which will be celebrated on September 9 this year.

The following cultural contests are expected to be held this year: “Furughi Subhi Donoi Kitob Ast” (Knowledge Is a Shine of Dawn); “Tojikiston -- Vatani Azizi Man” (Tajikistan Is My Native Land); and “Ilm – Furughi Marifat” (Science Is the Beacon of Knowledge).

Relevant government bodies are ordered to hold these contests at a high organizational level in all regions of the country.

The Ministry of Finance is ordered to allocate 2.54 million somonis to carry out the “Tojikiston -- Vatani Azizi Man” contest, 2.835 million somonis to carry out the “Furughi Subhi Donoi Kitob Ast” contest, and 2.345 million somonis to carry out the “Ilm – Furughi Marifat” contest. 

In all, 7.72 million somonis will be provided for the holding of these contests.  

Deputy Prime Minister in charge of social issues will supervise the implementation of president’s orders on providing funds for these contests. 

Thus, the “Furughi Subhi Donoi Kitob Ast” contest is carried out in the following nominations: connoisseur of Tajik classical literature (first place prize amounts to 30,000 somonis); connoisseur of Tajik modern literature (first place prize amounts to 25,000 somonis); connoisseur of children’s literature and folklore (first place prize amounts to 25,000 somonis); and connoisseur of world literature (first place prize amounts to 25,000 somonis).

The grand prix amount is 60,000 somonis.

The main objective of the “Furughi Subhi Donoi Kitob Ast” contest is in attracting public interest in reading books.
