Khujand chief sanitary inspector Tahmina Usmonova has expressed concern about the fact that residents and guests of the city neglect the basic requirements of public and personal hygiene in public places, especially at bazaars and on transport, Mamourkhon Yusufzoda, a spokesman for the Khujand mayor, said.

During a number of meetings with senior representatives of health and educational sectors, commercial malls and bazaars, she has voiced the alarming statistics of dissemination of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in the world as well as the COVID-19 situation in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

Usmonova further noted that although no new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the country since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population, the authorities of Sughd province and the city of Khujand are taking measures to prevent the new wave of COVID-19 in the area.

“As part of these measures, health workers, especially family doctors, must intensify an explanatory work among the population,” Khujand chief sanitary inspector added.
