Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will attend a CIS foreign ministerial meeting in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek on October 9, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Wednesday.

The meeting''s agenda will cover more than 20 issues, including key aspects of cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) ahead of a meeting of the post-Soviet organization''s leaders to be held in Bishkek on Friday.

"The ministers will also discuss legal and organizational issues related to Tbilisi''s decision to leave the CIS," Andrei Nesterenko said.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili announced in mid-August that the country was pulling out of the Russian-dominated organization. The Georgian parliament approved the decision two days later. The move came after a five-day war with Russia over the Georgian breakaway republic of South Ossetia.
