NATO is going to resume cooperation with Russia, Robert Simmons, NATO special representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, told journalists here on Monday.

According to his information, consultations on the problem have already been held at the level of ambassadors with the participation of Dmitry Rogozin, Russia’s representative at NATO. The NATO Secretary-General is going to discuss the problem with “an official from Russia” at the Munich Security Conference, which is planned to be held next weekend. “We are planning to draw Russia into cooperation with NATO, and to do it slowly, stage by stage,” Simmons said.

He said comprehensive cooperation between NATO and Russia had been suspended after the developments, which took place in the Caucasus in August 2008.
