The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia has broken up a group that was collecting money for the Islamic State terror group under the guise of charity.

FSB in cooperation with the Investigating Committee and the Federal Financial Monitoring Service reportedly broke up a group that had been engaged in collecting money for the Islamic State and Emarat Kavkaz (Caucasus Emirate) terrorist organizations.  

According to FSB, the group was acting in territories of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic, Karachay-Cherkess Republic, Ingushetia, Tatarstan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tyumen Oblast, Krasnodar Krai and Stavropol Krai.    

Under the guise of charity, members of this group have reportedly collected more than 6 million rubles that have been sent to Syria for financing terrorist crimes there.    

More than 100 people have reportedly been involved in collecting money, FSB press center aid.
