Iranian media reports say a top adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has warned the United States is facing a “second Vietnam if Washington refuses to withdraw American forces from the Middle East.

Ali Akbar Velayati reportedly called the decision of the United States to kill Iranian General Qasem Soleimani a great stupidity.

“Now Washington will face a “second Vietnam ”if its forces do not leave the region,” Iranian media outlets quoted him as saying farewell to Soleimani in Iran.

Earlier, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) of Iran, Hossein Salami, said that Tehran’s “strategic revenge for the killing of Soleimani” will put an end to the US presence in the Middle East region.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has threatened tough revenge for the murder of the military commander.

General IRG Qasem Soleimani was killed on January 3 during a US missile strike in the vicinity of the airport in Baghdad.
