Members of the CIS mission of observers are familiarizing themselves with preparations to the parliamentary elections scheduled for 14 December. The head of the CIS mission, first deputy executive secretary of the CIS, Vladimir Garkun, visited Dashoguz province as part of the mission.
V.Garkun met the head of the Dashoguz province administration and visited several election commissions, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent has learned from the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan. Accompanied by the head of Turkmenistan''s Central Election Commission he also visited Kuniyaurgench district to attend a meeting of electorate with candidates to the national parliament.
As was reported earlier, Turkmenistan invited observers from European countries and international organizations to the parliamentary elections. Turkmenistan pledged all necessary support to their work. The delegation of CIS observers arrived in Ashgabat a week ago.
Members of the mission held a number of talks at the Central Election Commission as well as the ministry of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan. In all, Turkmenistan is expected to host more than 40 international observers from the CIS executive committee, the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the CIS, national parliaments and diplomatic corps of CIS countries.
