DUSHANBE, May 19, Asia-Plus - An airport in the settlement of Gharm, the capital of the Rasht district in eastern Tajikistan, will resume its operation soon, according to information Tajik Air Company “Tojikiston”.
The source says an official opening of the Gharm airfield set for June 27, a Day of National Unity and Accord of Tajikistan.
Nazira Davlatova, a spokeswoman for the Tajik national air carrier, says the reconstruction work was carried out during the last two months. “Over this two-month period, builders from the “Aviastroy” company redecorated the airport’s building and other nearby facilities,” said Ms. Davlatova, “The work on improvement of the airport’s territory is ongoing.”
According to her, the air carrier has provided 110,000 Somonis (equivalent to US$34,000) for carrying these works.
