KULOB, January 13, 2009, Asia-Plus -- 1,324 new cases of tuberculosis were detected in Khatlon’s Kulob region in 2008, which is 395 cases more than in 2007, Asia-Plus has learned from the Kulob head sanitary physician Said Davlatov.
According to him, the TB rate was on average 138 new cases per 100,000, and the disease was detected in all ten districts of the region.
“The most serious situation was reported in the city and the district of Kulob that accounted for nearly one-third of the total number of new cases of TB detected in the region last year – 396 cases and the TB rate was 232.2 cases per 100,000,” Davlatov said.
Besides, 200 new cases of tuberculosis were detected in Vose, 98 in Danghara, 50 in Shuroobod, 13 in Baljuvon, etc, the head sanitary physician said, noting that according to the World Health Organization (WHO), the TB rate of 50 new cases per 100,000 could be identified as epidemic.
