DUSHANBE, July 19, 2012, Asia-Plus -- Over the first six months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of more than 4.467 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 935 million U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Compared to January-June of 2012 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 112 percent.

Processing industry accounted for 68.7 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the report period, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water accounted for 20.4 percent and mining industry accounted for 10.9 percent.

In January-June of 2012, of 931 industrial enterprises registered in the country 542 enterprises (58.2 percent) have exceeded the January-June 2011 production level, while 143 enterprises, or 15.4 percent of the overall number, have not been in operation.

Of the 89 basic types of industrial products the output of 54 items (60.7 percent) has increased over the same six-month period, and the output of 27 items (30 percent) has decreased.  Eight basic types of industrial products (9.0 percent) have not been manufactured.
