DUSHANBE, September 3, 2013, Asia-Plus – Japanese company, Itochu Corporation, has been chosen as contractor for implementation of the second phase of the project on purchase of modern machinery and equipment for maintenance of Khatlan Province and districts of central subordination roads.

Deputy Transportation Minister, Sherali Ganjalov, told Asia-Plus that after the tender held between 27 August and 1 September to choose a contractor for the project, an agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Transportation and Itochu Corporation.

The Deputy Minister said: “Itochu Corporation was involved in implementing the first stage of the project. Therefore we thought it fit to choose this company, since they already have much sufficient information about the project details.”

Mr. Ganjalov noted that the project is funded by a Japanese grant in the amount of $14 million. Earlier an agreement was signed by the parties in the Ministry of Finance on the allocation of these funds.
