KULOB, April 15, Asia-Plus -- Flooding caused by recent heavy rainfalls has affected some 20 hectares of areas under grain crops in Khatlon’s Kulob district, Asia-plus has learned from the Kulob emergencies official Orzou Rahmonov.
According to him, a special commission comprising representatives from the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES) and the Ministry of Land Reclamation and Water Resources (MLRWR) are currently in the district to closely monitor the situation. The commission will assess the actual volume of damage caused to the district by flooding.
In all, torrential rain has not caused increased in the level of water in the rivers, the Kulob emergencies official noted.
We will recall that the central government has allocated 3 million somonis this year for supporting the flood risk management system for the Kulob region, which one of the most flood-prone areas of the country.
