DUSHANBE, March 7, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Hissar resident, A.C., 51, was detained on March 6 on suspicion of giving bribe to local official, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI says that in April 2010, A.S. attempted to give a bribe of US$3,500 to Lieutenant-Colonel Mirzomad Umarov, deputy chief of the Ministry of Defense’s recruiting center in Hissar, for exemption of his son from the military service.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against A.S. under the provisions of Article 320 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – act of bribing; an investigation is under way.
