DUSHANBE, August 14, Asia-Plus -- On occasion of the 15 th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence, Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov Saturday [August 12] singed an amnesty bill that has been submitted for consideration to the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament).
According to information from presidential press service, the amnesty will apply to elderly, young and sick prisoners who are serving sentences for minor crimes.
“The Government of Tajikistan expresses confidence that adoption of the law will promote further development of stability and atmosphere of creative life in society,” the source noted.
