DUSHANBE, April 29, Asia-Plus -- An operational meeting of the government, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, was held in the Rudaki district on April 29, according to presidential press service.
The meeting participants included senior representatives of president’s office, government, ministries of agriculture and land reclamation and water resources, agencies of geodesy, land management and environmental protection, as well as directors of investment project implementation units, heads of banks and chairmen of cities and districts subordinate to the center.
Deputy prime minister in charge of agriculture Murodali Alimardonov and chairmen of the cities and the districts reported on efficient use of lands in the area, efforts taken to fill consumer market with domestic farm produce and promote achievement of food security, presidential press service said.
Speaking at the meeting, the president set specific tasks to increase production of grains, potatoes, vegetables and fruits and develop animal husbandry and poultry in the country.
During his stay in the district, Emomali Rahmon visited a number of local farming units engaged growing vegetables, flowers and decorative trees. He also visited an exhibition of agricultural goods produced by local farmers. In the Rahimov Farm, they demonstrated him a modern economy sowing machine “Dander” (phonetically spelled).
