DUSHANBE, April 10, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Fifteen officers from border control departments and units participate in a three-day training on document security, organized by the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA), funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP, together with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).
According to the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan, over the course of three days, two international trainers (Slovakia and Austria) will provide participants with information about the European system of document control. Trainers will also provide participants with latest developments in document and identity security. Themes like conventional printing techniques, digital printing technologies, stages of passport production and document personalization will be further explored during the training.
This training aims at providing an overview of the second level of document control procedures based on the European three-level document control practice. Competent border control officers with relevant experience and knowledge of document security procedures (basic printing methods, safety features, profiling and other) will be trained through the practical work with documents and real cases.
The overall objectives of BOMCA’s engagement in Central Asia are to help increase security in the Central Asian region, to contribute toward the facilitation of legitimate trade and transit, and to reduce the illicit movement of goods and people.
The BOMCA Programme is funded by the European Union and is implemented by UNDP with ICMPD as an implementing partner.
