DUSHANBE, March 25, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon was on a working visit to the northern province of Sughd from March 23 to March 24, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

During the visit, the president inaugurated a number of administrative, social, educational and cultural facilities in the area and held meetings with regional administrators.

On March 23, Emomali Rahmon took part in a ceremony to lay the cornerstone of a new modern township in the Mastchoh district.

The new township, named Mehrobod, will have 220 two-story apartment buildings, school, hospital and kindergarten.  Besides, plots of land for housing will be allocated to 2,500 families.

Mehrobod is being built on a 330-hectare land some 18 kilometers from Buston, the administrative center of the Mastchoh district.

While in Mastchoh, Rahmon reportedly also inaugurated a number of social, educational and cultural facilities.

On the same day, Emomali Rahmon participated in a ceremony of opening of a new cement plant - Huaxin Gayur Sughd Cement -- in the Bobojonghafourov district.

Established by Huaxin Zhongya Investment (Wuhan) Co., Ltd, the subsidiary of Huaxin Cement Co., Ltd, and Gayur Limited Liability Company, Huaxin Gayur Sughd Cement will produce more than 1 million tons of cement per year.

On March 24, President Rahmon visited the cities of Isfara and Konibodom.

While in Isfara, Rahmon inaugurated a new building of the Isfara prosecutor’s office.

In Konibodom, the president participated in opening of Tajikistan’s first oil refinery – Naftrason Ltd.  The enterprise will produce gasoline diesel fuel and fuel oil.

While in Konibodom, Rahmon also gave a kick start to reconstruction of the road connecting Isfara, Konibodom and the Jabborrasoulov district.
