About 22 million non-cash transactions via payment cards and electronic wallets were made in the first half of this year in trade institutions and service points of Tajikistan, the National Bank of the country reports.

This is 52.1% more compared to the same period in 2022.

The total volume of payment for goods and services by non-cash transactions amounted to 5.5 billion somoni (about $ 505 million), which is 83.2% more than in the same period last year.

The number of bank payment cards issued into circulation, according to the NBT, amounted to 5.9 million units, an increase of 42% compared to the same period last year.

The total number of electronic wallets of credit institutions is 7.5 million units, which is 2.6 million units (52.6%) more than in this period last year.

The regulator notes that 1,947 ATMs and 7,434 electronic terminals have been installed in the republic to provide services to payment card holders.

"In addition, as of June 30, 2023, there were 20051 QR codes used in trade institutions and service points of the republic, which is 5226 (35.3%) more compared to this period last year," the NBT concludes.
