DUSHANBE , January 17, Asia-Plus - Radio station “Asia-Plus” today announced renaming its Annual Musical Award “Surudi Sol”.  Now it will be named “Navo” (Melody) .

The “Asia-Plus” director general, Umed Babakhanov, told journalists this today.  He reminded that a ceremony of presenting of the Annual Musical Award “Surudi Sol” has been held in Dushanbe since 2003 and spectators always recognized it as a striking show-event of year.

However, it has been decided to hold the “Surudi Sol” award presenting ceremony at higher, national level and this year organizer of the “Surudi Sol” award presenting ceremony will be the Ministry of Culture.  

“We candidly wish success to our colleagues from the Ministry of Culture,” said Babakhanov, “Let the competition held by the ministry will be a new move towards development of Tajik variety song and will help new talented singers enter home scene.”

“For its part, in order to avoid misunderstandings the Asia-Plus” radio station announces renaming its musical award’s brand.  Musical Award “Navo” comes to take the place of “Surudi Sol on the Asia-Plus radio station.”  

As before, winners of the new award will be determined by the audience of the “Asia-Plus” radio station on the results of weekly hit parades on “Asia-Plus”, according to Mr. Babakhanov.  As usual, a ceremony of presenting the ward will be held in Dushanbe in May.
