DUSHANBE, February 21, Asia-Plus - Republican scientific conference formally titled “Contribution of Abuabdullo Rudaki to Development of Tajik Language and Literature” opened at Tajikistan’s Academy of Sciences in Dushanbe today. 

This event staged by the Academy of Sciences and International Foundation for Development of Tajik-Persian Language is dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of the founder of Tajik-Persian literature.   

The conference participants include researchers, members of the government commission for implementation of language law, as well as representatives from the Iranian Embassy in Dushanbe.  

The conference is considering issues related to language policy of the government and works of Abuabdullo Rudaki.  During the conference it was noted that although the language law was adopted 19 year ago there are still instances of gross violation of the law’s requirements.

The conference coincided with Internal Mother Language Day, which marked on February 21.  

February 21 was proclaimed the International Mother Language Day by UNSECO on November 17, 1999.  The International Mother Language Day is observed yearly in UNESCO member states and at its headquarters to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
