The 4th two-day Parliamentary Speakers'' Conference of the Organization of the Islamic Conference opened in
Istanbul
on Wednesday April 12. The conference is supposed to result in launch of appeal to the West’s countries calling for combing efforts in the fight against Islamophobia and showing respect for Islam, according to the source. The draft appeal published in the Turkish press, in particular, contains appeal to the UN Security Council asking to adopt a special resolution in connection with recent “cartoon crisis” caused by publication of cartoons depicting Prophet Muhammad in some newspapers.
