DUSHANBE, May 15, Asia-Plus - Experts from Moscow will be invited to participate in working out a new general plan of Dushanbe, according to information from the State Committee for Construction and Architecture.

The source has refrained from giving further details of the new general plan for the Tajik capital but noted that it provides for making considerable changes to the Rudaki Avenue and Ayni Street .  The Asia-Plus interlocutor stressed that transport scheme of the city would not change.  

“This plan is more expanded compared to the previous one and provides for pulling down old administrative and residential buildings that will not join an appearance of modern city,” the source said.   

A government session that was held in late January made a decision to extend the term of validity of the Dushanbe general plan until the new one is worked out.  The new general plan for Dushanbe is supposed to have been finished by the end of this year. 

The present general plan for Dushanbe was worked out in cooperation with specialists from the Moscow Planning Institute in 1983.
