“Shohambari” sanatorium may receive 300 visitors

DUSAHNBE, June 30, Asia-Plus - Known Tajik sanatorium “Shohambari” located in the Hissor district marks its 53
rd
anniversary this year.
Muqim Hikmatov, the head of resorts department of
Tajikistan
’s Trade Unions, says this resort facility is currently operational and able to receive 300 visitors.
The “Shohambari” sanatorium mainly specializes in providing treatment for intestinal and stomach diseases. According to Hikmatov, after the collapse of the
Soviet Union
the sanatorium had not worked for several years. Later, it was able to receive visitors only in the summer period. “This year, they have repaired residential blocks and restored the electricity supply system and the sanatorium now is able to function all the year round,” Mr. Hikmatov said.
A place in the “Shohambari” sanatorium for 12 days costs 190 Somonis.
At present seven sanatoriums and resort facilities are under jurisdiction of
Tajikistan
’s Trade Unions. But many of them are in a poor state. According to Hikmatov, Russian investors are ready to provide financial support in rehabilitation and reconstruction of sanatorium facilities in
Tajikistan
. He said they were currently preparing investment projects for rehabilitation of sanatoriums and resorts in
Tajikistan
.
Last year, more than 10,000 people had rest in sanatoriums and resorts in
Tajikistan
.
