DUSHANBE, May 26, Asia-Plus – A Center for Ecological Studies has been set up at the Pamirs Biological Institute in Khorog, Gorno Badakhshan.
Speaking in an interview with Pamir Media, academician Oghonazar Aqnazarov, the director of the Pamirs Biological Institute, said that the center is dedicated to organize seminars for school students, youth and farmers on the environmental protection issues.
“The center is planned to organize six such seminars a year on the following subjects: agriculture; ecology of mountain areas, environmental protection and climate change,” the academician said, noting that the UN Global Ecology Fund (GEF) has provided technical assistance to the center in a form of computers and other necessary equipment for a total amount of $11,000.
