DUSHANBE, September 23, 2008, Asia-Plus  -- The Swiss Cooperation Office Tajikistan is celebrating the 10th anniversary.

According to the SDC office in Dushanbe, a press conference will be held in Dushanbe on September 26.

Besides, a number of events to mark this jubilee will be held at the Yoqut Restaurant in Dushanbe on September 26 and 27.  Representatives of the government, public and international organizations will attend these events.

Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev yesterday signed an appropriate resolution on organizing work on preparations for these events.  The resolution, in particular, permits to hold a festive concert with participation of known Tajik variety singers and groups such as Daler Nazarov, music group Shams, and Shabnami Surayo on this occasion at the Square of Moscow’s 800th Anniversary in Dushanbe on September 27.

The Swiss-Tajik partnership for development started in 1998 when the Swiss Cooperation Office was officially opened in Dushanbe as a branch of the Cooperation Office in Bishkek.  In the year 2000 it became an independent representing body of the Swiss Government.  Since then, Switzerland has been actively promoting good governance principles through a wide range of projects implemented in the five major domains of interventions: Health Care Reform, Water Management and Disaster Risk Reduction, Public Institutions and Services, Basic Infrastructure, and Private Sector Development, which are continued to be implemented within the Cooperation Strategy for the Central Asia Region 2007-2011.
