KHUJAND, April 14, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Tuesday morning, Canada’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Mrs. Margaret Skok, attended an official opening of a bakery in Khujand, at which children with limited physical opportunities will work.
The Khujand democracy development center has implemented the project under the financial support of the Canadian Embassy.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Khujand democracy development center chairperson Ms. Mavzouna Karimova said the bakery had been built in the territory of open joint-stock company (OJSC) Khujandtorgmash.
“The Canadian embassy has provided 15,000 dollars for purchase of necessary equipment. Girls from the boarding school for deaf-and dump children, located in the Qistaquz jamoat, will work at the bakery,” said Ms. Karimova, “They will take a training course to be baker.”
One of international organizations is designing logotype and trademark of the bread that will be baked by this bakery that will organize bread deliveries to the city’s kindergartens and proceeds will go to paying wages to bakers, Ms. Karimova said. “At first, the UN WFP Country Office will provide the bakery with wheat flour,” the project coordinator said.
