Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan has held a sitting regarding activation of Kazakhstan’s work within the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program on August 14. Minister Bakhyt Sultanov and representatives of state bodies on the CAREC priority directions took part in the session, reported Kazinform with reference to the Ministry’s press office.
Issues regarding strategy of Kazakhstan’s participation in the CAREC, determination of key priorities on regional cooperation with CA states were discussed. As Sultanov said, “it is necessary to establish a clear position, activity of our country within the program on national and regional levels concentrated on transport, energy and trade policy”.
“Usage of economic cooperation as a platform for dialogue with member states will contribute to further coordination of the projects in our economy with CAREC”, the Minister said.
In order to enhance coordination it was decided to determine a two-level approach to appointment of executive officers from each ministry, on the level of vice ministers and departments’ directors who will coordinate the CAREC issues.
CAREC Advisor to Kazakhstan Z. Baidasheva made a report on the course of the Program’s realization. Reps of ministries and departments focused on the opportunity of Kazakhstan’s cooperation spheres expansion within the CAREC.
The next CAREC session on the level of vice ministers is scheduled for September and will be devoted to the sitting of the CAREC senior officials which is to take place in Baku (Azerbaijan) on Sep 25-26.
