“Heating and electricity tariffs are not expected to rise since January 1, 2009,” Ilias Davydov the Kyrgyz Minister of Industry, Energy and Fuel Resources said at the session of social-democratic fraction of Parliament on Tuesday.
On April 23, 2008 the Kyrgyz government approved electricity, heating and hot water tariffs raising plan, according to which the prices yearly grow by 20%. The indices vary from year to year, however in 2009 the rise is expected to make 14 tyiyns per kWh.
The possible rise is expected since April 1, 2009. “Electricity tariffs will possibly stay unchanged,” the minister said.
“Tariffs rise is the sore point for the Kyrgyz energetics. And even the special program adopted by the Kyrgyz government could not solve the whole problem,” Davydov noted.
