Kazakhstan is planning to increase uranium extraction by 40% in 2009 up to 11.9 thousand tons, said Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sauat Mynbayev.
Kazakhstan ranks second after Australia in terms of uranium stocks.
Uranium extraction in 2008 amounted to 8.512 thousand tons, which exceeded figures of 2007 by 29%.
