Kyrgyz opposition nevertheless decided to block possible negotiations with the authorities. The decision was made at the extraordinary meeting of the Joint Public Movement, leader of Ak Shumkar party Temir Sariev informed.
As to Sariev, the majority of JPM members refused to continue talks with representatives of the government’s machinery in protest against the arrest of their associate, ex-foreign minister Alikbek Jekshenkulov.
The leader informed that JPM will hold mass protest actions throughout the republic on March 27.
“We will bring the following claims forward - resignation of the Kyrgyz president, ending of family corruption in the country, economic claims and presidential elections without candidacy of Kurmanbek Bakiev,” Ak Shumkar leader said.
So, the next authority-opposition meeting planned for March 13, 2009 will not take place.
