Leadership of the World Bank approved $10 million program on improvement of maternity and child protection sphere in Kyrgyzstan, Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Uktomhan Abdullaeva informed the 7th summit of health care organizations on Friday, May 29.
The program will start in 2010. All present –day measures are directed to improvement of population’s health, reduction of child mortality rate, HIV, AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria control.
According to Uktomhan Abdullaeva, Kyrgyz health care system is supported by five main sponsors: the World Bank, UK Department for International Development, German Development Bank, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Swiss Agency for International Development.
The World Bank and over 10 other sponsors assist in implementation of Manas taalimi program. “Measures on improvement of material and technical sphere of first-aid and obstetrical stations were taken recently. At least 908 first-aid and obstetrical stations were equipped in 2008. About 72 medical aid stations will be opened in 2009,” vice prime minister said.
In general, foreign sponsors have allocated $54 million for improvement of health care system in Kyrgyzstan.
