DUSHANBE, January 30, Asia-Plus -- “We have no right of always making compromise,” Mahmudkhon Sarayev, an official with information and analytical department within the President’s Executive Office, remarked at a briefing in Dushanbe on January 27 commenting on granting a media license to the BBC FM service in Tajikistan.
According to him, the issue of granting broadcasting licenses to the BBC FM service should be considered at intergovernmental level. “An agreement should be signed between the Governments of Tajikistan and the United Kingdom,” Sarayev said, stressing once again that suspension was procedural and had nothing to do with the content of the BBC’s programming.
