According to him, this preventive measure is being taken following a resolution banning sale of live birds on the markets in the republic.

“All shop realizing live birds will be closed,” Amirbekov said, noting that raids will be made daily.

“The Ministries of Health and Agriculture have taken this step for the purpose of prevent spread of avian influenza (bird flu) to Tajikistan ,” the Asia-Plus interlocutor said.

We will recall that last year Tajikistan put ban on imports of chickens and other birds and poultry products from a number of countries, where an outbreak of bird flue was registered.
