KHOROG, February 6, Asia-Plus -- The GBAO anti-monopoly agency has taken measures to regulate rates of fares for the city and suburban passenger transport.
Deputy head of the GBAO Anti-Monopoly Agency, Khursand Vafobekov, has told Asia-Plus that fare for diesel-run public transport was determined at the rate of 0.04 Somoni per passenger/kilometer and for the public transport running on gasoline the fare was determined at the rate of 0.06 Somoni per passenger/kilometer. “The fare for fixed-route taxi (minivan) within the city has been determined at the rate of 0.08 Somoni per passenger/kilometer and for the fixed-route taxi running between the city and nearby settlements, the fare has been determined at the rate of 0.03, 0.05 and 0.07 Somoni per passenger/kilometer respectively,” the Asia-Plus interlocutor said.
According to him, these measures have been taken following becoming more frequent cases of unfounded increase in the fares.
“For example, in Khorog, drivers of private fixed-route taxies take 1.00 Somoni from passenger, while in the suburban areas the fare is from 1.5 Somonis to 2.00 Somonis per 15 kilometers instead of the determined 0.90 Somoni,” Vafobekov said.
He also noted that new rates had been worked out in accordance with calculations made by the Research Planning Institute at the Transport Ministry.
