DUSHANBE, May 22, Asia-Plus -- Russian company “Russkii Aluminii” (Russian Aluminum or RusAl) has set to preparatory works on the construction of the Roghun hydropower plant in Tajikistan.

Aleksandr Kasatkin, a spokesman for the RusAl representative office in Dushanbe, has told Asia-Plus that RusAl will have invested US$50 million in the Roghun project this year.  “The Investments will go to providing necessary conditions for training and dwellings of specialists that will be involved in the construction of the station, as well as for carrying out immediate works on rehabilitation and construction of infrastructure and purchase of special construction equipment and machines,” Kasatkin noted.  

According to him, RusAl in May opened in Dushanbe the construction sub-division of the company that had already concluded first contracts will domestic companies.   “Purchase of special vehicles and machines has started and more than 30 special machines will arrive in Tajikistan in coming two months,” the RusAl Dushanbe representation spokesman said.  

According to him, they have started refurbishment of four nine-storied residential buildings in the city of Roghun intended for specialists.  The refurbishment works are supposed to have been completed by September this year.   The company has also set to rehabilitation of roads leading to the site for the Roghun station.  

Training of specialists on the building specialties will be launched in the city of Roghun in September this year.       

According to Kasatkin, creation of the necessary infrastructure and training of specialists will allow organizing full-scale works on the construction of the plant after the type and they height of the station’s dam are determined.
