KHOROG, June 6, Asia-Plus -- A four-day seminar on human rights issues for local journalists ended in Khorog, the capital of Gorno Badakhshan, on June 5.
The seminar staged by Tajik NGO Bureau on Human Rights and Rule of Law and the Khorog-based “Pomir” Public Association under support of the European Commission in Kazakhstan was held in Khorog within the framework of the “Journalistic Human Rights Network of the Republic of Tajikistan” project.
The “Pomir” Public Association head Qurbon Alamshoyev says the main objective of the seminar was in raising legal awareness among the local journalists. “Twenty journalists took part in the seminar conducted by Luner Kerimov, expert from the Helsinki Human rights Foundation (Warsaw), Maria Lisitsina from Kyrgyzstan and Nigina Bahriyeva, Director of the Tajik NGO Bureau on Human Rights and Rule of Law,” Mr. Alamashoyev said, noting that the same seminars were conducted in other regions of the country as well.
