DUSHANBE, July 11, Asia-Plus - The construction of a new frontier post on the Kyrgyz border in northern Tajikistan is a planned step of the country’s border authorities and in no way connected with the situation on this section of Tajikistan’s national border, Safarali Sayfulloyev, the First Deputy Chairman of Tajikistan State Border Protection Committee, remarked, commenting on the construction of the new frontier post near the village of Qaraqchiqum in the northern district of Konibodom.  

According to him, the existing border outpost, on the basis of which the new frontier post will be constructed, does not meet the present requirements of the protection of border.  “The new frontier post will have better conditions of service and living for officers and soldiers,” the Tajik border official stressed.    

On the present situation at the Tajik-Kyrgyz border, Safarali Sayfulloyev has assessed it as “stable” as a whole.   According to him, there are more than 150 frontier posts along the entire Tajikistan ’s national border, which is more than 4,000 kilometers in length.

As it had been reported earlier, Tajikistan ’s State Border Protection Committee Chairman Saydamir Zuhurov and Security Council Secretary Amirqul Azimov visited northern Tajikistan last Saturday to inspect border units stationed along Tajikistan ’s common border with Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in Isfara and Konibodom districts. During the trip the Tajik border service chief ordered to prepare all necessary documentations for construction of one more frontier post at the Tajik-Kyrgyz border near the village of Qaraqchiqum in the Konibodom district.
