DUSHANBE, July 25, Asia-Plus - US$2.964 million worth of gold wares, coins and precious stones have been delivered to Tajikistan so far this year, which is four times more compared to the same period of 2005 (US$697,000), Aslam Akramov, the head of the Customs Department of the Ministry of State Revenues and Tax Collections (MSRTC), announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 25. 

According to him, coins minted in the Russian Federation by order of the National bank of Tajikistan (NBT) worth US$2.749 million have made the main part of gold wares and coins delivered to Tajikistan in January-June 2006.  

“The other part includes gold and silver wares worth US$190,000 and precious stones,” Mr. Akramov said, noting that gold and silver wares have been imported to Tajikistan mainly from the Russian Federation and Turkey .
