DUSHANBE, September 8, Asia-Plus - A trilateral meeting of parliaments of Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran is scheduled to be held in Dushanbe today afternoon, at 3:00 p.m.
Afghan National Assembly’s House of People (Wolesi Jirga) Speaker Muhammad Yunus Konuni arrived in Dushanbe today morning.
According to information from the Majlisi Oli (Tajikistan’s parliament), Mr. Konuni was met at the Dushanbe airport by his Tajik counterpart, the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Speaker Saydullo Khairulloyev.
During his stay in Tajikistan Mr. Konuni is expected to hold talks with his counterpart Saydullo Khairulloyev, and Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov, as well as attend celebrations to mark the 15 th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence and the 2700 th anniversary of Kulob. Speaker of Afghanistan’s lower chamber of parliament also will address the Sixth Forum of Tajiks and Persian-speaking Peoples that will open in Dushanbe today afternoon.
We will recall that Iran’s Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel heading a parliamentary delegation arrived in Dushanbe for his first official visit to Tajikistan yesterday evening and was welcomed by his counterpart Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament).
He is scheduled to attend Tajikistan’s Independence and also the Forum of Tajiks and Persian-speaking Peoples.
Haddad-Adel also will also meet with his counterpart Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, Tajik president Emomali Rahmonov and as well as a group of the country’s members of parliament. Iran’s parliament speaker also will visit a number of cultural and scientific centers, including a collection of manuscripts.
Today afternoon, Haddad-Adel and Yunus Konuni will attend the trilateral meeting of parliaments of Tajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan. The meeting is supposed to focus on inter-parliamentary cooperation and exchange experiences of legislation procedures.
